The Fargesia Nitida 'Great Wall' is a recent cultivar of the Nitida genus.

Very similar to the Nitida, however it has dark green foliage and as its name suggests is well suited to hedging. It has long weeping culms producing a fountain shape. The dark purple of the culms becomes more pronounced in sunlight and sets off the mass of delicate appearing smaller leaves.

This plant matures fairly quickly and the possibilites are endless as it is at home as a specimen, screen, windbreak or in a pot.
